It is our great pleasure to invite you to the CENTERIS’2009 - Conference on ENTERprise Information Systems – aligning technology, organizations and people, to be held in Ofir, Portugal, organized by the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave and the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro.
This is the place where, from 07 to 09 October 2009, under the leitmotiv of Enterprise Information Systems, academics, scientists, IT/IS professionals, scientists, managers and solution providers from all over the world will have the opportunity to share experiences, bring new ideas, debate issues, introduce the latest developments in the field.
CENTERIS’2009 is an international conference that will address the largely multidisciplinary field embraced by the Enterprise Information Systems (EIS), from the social, organizational and technological perspectives. The 3-day conference follows an innovative format, previewing scientific sessions, tutorial and technical sessions, and simultaneously exhibitions by solutions providers and product presentations. There will also be a social program, that will enable participants to get to know each one and informally exchange information, contacts and experiences, discuss projects, and incubate partnerships.
The authors of the best papers will be invited to extend the paper for publication in international journals.
You are invited to consider submitting a paper in one of the conference topics.
Themes/Recommended topics:
The conference intends to attract original, pertinent and relevant contributions on the technological,
organizational and social dimensions of the largely multidisciplinary field of Enterprise Information
Systems, which includes ERP, CRM, eMarketplaces, extended ERP, etc.
Recommended topics include, but are not limited, to the following:
1.- The technological dimension, addressing:
- Enterprise information systems' design, application, implementation, and impact;
- Competitiveness and market share among solution providers;
- In-house development, off-the-shelf solutions and open source solutions;
- The new market of open source solutions and services delivery;
- Reliability, maintenance and dependency on solution and services suppliers;
- IT/IS (out)sourcing;
- Parameterization and flexible adaptation;
- Information systems integration and enterprise information integration;
- ERP integration of functions and virtual/extended/networked enterprises;

- Enterprise architecture design, modelling and integration;
- Collaboration and networked and virtual organizations;
- The impact on the internal status quo;
- Problems of information sharing and migration of processes;
- Management of change.

3.- The social aspect, covering:
- The resistance to change;
- IT human resources;
- Trust and confidence in new technology;
- Training needs.

Submission Procedure:
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before January 15, 2009 an abstract explaining the mission and concerns of the paper to be proposed. This procedure is optional, but recommended for organizational purposes.
Papers shall be submitted electronically at the Conference webpage (http://centeris2009.eiswatch.org) until March 15, 2009. Submitted papers will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis, and authors will be notified of the review process results by June 15. Authors of accepted papers can receive recommendations to revise their manuscript according to the reviewers comments and should submit the revised version until July 15, 2009.
Papers must be written in English. Each paper should not exceed 5,000 words or 14 pages considering the format available for download at the conference webpage (http://centeris2009.eiswatch.org).
